Dorothy M. Hensley, age 85, of Eldon formerly of Ulman, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Eugene on June 21, 1925, daughter of the late Bee and Belle (Patterson) Dawson. On August 18, 1947, in Tuscumbia, Dorothy married Jasper Lewis Hensley, who preceded her in death on July 22, 2007.
Dorothy and her late husband owned and operated Hensley Turkey Farm in Ulman for over 30 years until their retirement. She was a member of the Ulman Christian Church.
She is survived by one daughter, DeAnn Sanning of Tuscumbia; one son, James Hensley and wife Stella of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Eric Hensley and wife Amy of Ft. Meyers, Florida, Janet Hensley of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, Mike Hensley of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, and Drew Sanning of Tuscumbia; four great-grandchildren, Andrew Hensley, Ella Hensley, Austin Hensley, and Elizabeth Hensley; one brother, Gene Dawson of Sikeston; and one sister, Barbara Norfleet of Raytown.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, James Dawson of Owensville and one sister, Naomi Spalding of Hickory Hill.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Interment will be in Gott Cemetery near Ulman.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 3, at the funeral home.
