Dorothy Jean McDaniel, age 93, of Brumley, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Hinton, Iowa, on August 21, 1918, daughter of the late Walter and Clara Loretta (Kenzig) Young. On September 28, 1940, in Lebanon, Dorothy married Earl Washington McDaniel, who preceded her in death on February 22, 1987.

She is survived by three sons, George McDaniel and wife Rosalind of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Gaylord McDaniel and wife Brenda of Brumley, and Dwight McDaniel of Brumley; one brother, David Young of Warsaw; one sister, Mary Jo Lowrey of Cabool; nine grandchildren, Kourtney Brase of Centertown, Robert McDaniel of Hawk Point, Larry McDaniel of Brumley, Lisa Brown of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ryan McDaniel of Iberia, Lora Gaines of Iberia, Steven McDaniel of Brumley, Robin Richins of Atlanta, Georgia, and Sarah McDaniel of Colorado Springs, Colorado; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.

She was also preceded in death by two granddaughters, Sherri McDaniel and DeAnn McHoes and four brothers and sisters, Bill Young, Verlyn Brown, Mae Rubel, and Frances Mokuilima.

Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro Warren Mitchell will officiate. Interment will be in Colvin Cemetery near Kaiser.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, at the funeral home.
