Edith Irene (Worthey) Porter Brown, age 84, of Eldon, died Saturday, June 16, 2007 at St. Marys Health Center. She was born in Tuscumbia on May 26, 1923, a daughter of the late Harvey and Stella (Wyrick) Worthey. In 1937 she was married in Tuscumbia to Douglas E. Porter who preceded her in death in 1984. She later married Charles Thomas Brown who also preceded her in death in 2001.

Those who survive her include: one son, Randy Porter and wife Kathy of Eldon; one son-in-law, George Morris, Sr. of Eldon; two grandchildren, George Morris, Jr. of Oklahoma and Micah Porter of Eldon; one sister, Ruth Holmes of Lucedale, Mississippi and numerous nieces and nephews.

Two children, Linda and Gary died as infants and one daughter, Barbara Morris preceded her in death in 2004. Two sisters, Opal and Lena and six brothers, Henry, Emmett, Buren, Leonard, Paul and Homer, also preceded her in death.

Her body has been cremated under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
