Edith Copeland, age 93 years, 10 months and 11 days, of Iberia, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Maries County on June 6, 1913, a daughter of the late C.D. Barton, Belvia (Barnhart) Lawson and stepfather Roe Lawson. On September 28, 1929, in Vienna, she was married to Orville Floyd Copeland, who preceded her in death on October 29, 1950.
Edith has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Iberia since the 1960's.
Those who survive her include: two sons, Charles "Don" Copeland of Iberia and Burl Copeland and wife Wanda of Dixon; six daughters, Alma Hill of Iberia, Betty Blankenship and husband Berry of Iberia, Mona Jones and husband Bill of Dixon, JoAnn Gallagher and husband Ray of Buena Vista, Colorado, Lemoine Lawson of Iberia and Linda Prather of Iberia; 23 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
Three grandchildren, Carol Jones Pitts, Rhonda Blankenship and Michael Linn Prather and
half brother and wife, Bob and Margie Lawson, also preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, with services immediately following at 3:00 p.m. at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Gene Edwards and Rev. Manuel Seaton will officiate. Interment will be in Wheeler Cemetery near Dixon.
