Obituary

Eleanor Faith (Huff) Glawson, age 93, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Owensville on April 11, 1923, daughter of the late Vernon M. Huff and Eleanor Leatha (Warden) Huff Michel. On December 7, 1941, in Eldon, Eleanor was united in marriage for 69 years to Joseph Arnie Glawson, who preceded her in death on March 7, 2010. To this union four children were born, three sons and one daughter.

Mrs. Glawson professed her Christian faith at an early age in the United Methodist Church in Owensville. Later in life she became a member of the United Methodist Church of Iberia and was most recently a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church in Tuscumbia.

Faith was a farm wife, factory worker for Brown Shoe Company of Dixon and LB Manufacturing of Iberia and clerked for Fancher Dry Goods in Iberia. She was also employed by Hammack Florist of Crocker where she apprenticed and later opened her own successful floral business, Flowers by Faith, for many years in Iberia. Faith was a life-long seamstress and had her own dress shop in Crocker for several years.

Faith loved to quilt and made many quilting treasures that she shared generously. She also enjoyed embroidery and tending her garden of flowers. She definitely had a "green thumb" and loved to work with her African violets at her home.

Faith was a member and past matron of Iberia Chapter O.E.S No. 537, Niangua Chapter D.A.R, Holly Guild of Iberia, and a Life Member of VFW Post 4956 Ladies Auxiliary of Crocker.

Eleanor led an exemplary life always placing her loved ones first and was a tribute to the word "mother" as she taught values by her example. She was a wonderful Christian wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She will be greatly missed by all her family.

She is survived by three sons, Joseph Paul Glawson and wife Karen of Richland, Alan David Glawson and wife Sherry Jo of Tuscumbia, and Keith Arnie Glawson and wife Susan LeAnn of Tuscumbia; one daughter, Susan Gwen Neal and husband Tom of Linn Creek; ten grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Carl Leland Michel, Alan Christian Michel, Bruce Arnie Michel and Roger Vernon Huff; one sister, Joan Michel Corrie, and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her loving husband, Joseph, Faith was also preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Robert Eugene Glawson, and three brothers, Gordon Ray Huff, Jerry Huff, and Neil Walter Michel.

Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Charlie Worstell will officiate. Interment will be in Iberia Cemetery alongside her husband and other family members.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with an Eastern Star service held at 6 p.m., on Tuesday, January 31, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Mt. Zion Christian Church.
