Eleanor I. Wilde, age 92, of St. Elizabeth, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Westphalia Hills. She was born in Maries County on March 13, 1929, daughter of the late Louis and Regina (Borgmeyer) Plassmeyer. On October 28, 1961, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth, Eleanor was united in marriage to Frank Ralph Wilde, who preceded her in death on January 15, 1997.

In her younger days she attended a rural one-room school at Thompson Hill, which was a two and half mile walk from their family home. She worked for various families in the area as a young child assisting with household and farm duties. Eleanor always had a strong work ethic and was employed with Tweedy Shoe Factory for 10 years and Langenberg Hat Factory for 23 years. After retirement she worked for several years at P&H Tavern and as a part-time cook at St. Elizabeth R-IV.

Eleanor devoted much of her time volunteering in her community with various tasks including cooking and quilting. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and attending her grandchildren's school activities and sports.

She was a devoted member of St. Ann's Sodality, WPFA Club, and St. Elizabeth Quilting Club. She was a life-long member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

She is survived by three children, Doris Stumpe (Mitch) of Meta, Roy Wilde (Sandra) of Wardsville, and Morris Wilde (Sidney) of St. Elizabeth; ten grandchildren, Brendan Stumpe (fiancée, Jessica Alberts), Peyton Wilde, Sydney Wilde, Blair Schanzmeyer (Dustin), Morgan Loethen (Ryan), Regan Wilde (fiancée, Trevor Garriott), Owen Wilde, Collin Luebbering, Jenna Luebbering and Sam Luebbering; three great-grandchildren, Augusta Schanzmeyer, Ellis Schanzmeyer, and Maddox Loethen with the fourth great-grandchild due in June; sister, Lorene Heckemeyer; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roman and Albert Plassmeyer.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, April 28, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth with Fr. Joby Thomas officiating. Interment will be held in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
