Elenora Isabelle Carson Smoot, age 77, of Brumley, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at the Lake Ozark Retirement Center. She was born in Granite City, Illinois, on February 14, 1931, daughter of Patrick W. and Mary A. (Unfried) Carson. In 1956, in Granite City, Illinois, she was married to Franklin T. Smoot, who preceded her in death in August 1980.

She worked as a nurse's aide and was of the Nazarene faith.

Survivors include five children, Joseph F. Smoot and wife Kathy of Brumley, Patrick C. Smoot of Brumley, Lisa A. Smoot Gray of Granite City, Illinois, Rita C. Smoot Rowden and husband Mark of Camdenton, and Franklin T. Smoot II and wife Linda of Brumley; one sister, Rita Ann Carson Morris and husband Robert of Granite City, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Beth Ann, Jeremy, Tony, Kelli, Jonathan, Andrew, Nathaniel, and Sydney; and five great-grandchildren, Rosie, Jessica, Tristan, Dylan, and Brenna Anne.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Talitha P. Carson Heibel.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Pastor Cliff Simmons will officiate. Interment will be in Hawkins Cemetery near Brumley.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
