Elzie H. Helton, age 72, of Meta, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born in Meta on June 25, 1938, son of the late George and Liley Agnes (Johnson) Helton. On January 18, 1957, in Illinois, Elzie married Betty Wilson, who survives at the home.

Elzie enjoyed hunting, fishing, music, and making guitars. He was a member of Campground Christian Church.

He is also survived by one daughter, Connie Wyss and husband Kenny of Vienna; one son, Brian Helton and fiancée Julie Mills of Holts Summit; four grandchildren, Darrell Wyss of Jefferson City, Scott Wyss of Cape Girardeau, Blake Helton of Holts Summit, and Jacy Helton of Holts Summit; three sisters, Minnie Vaught of Jefferson City, Emma Woods of Jefferson City, and Lola Rowden of Valley Park; and one brother, Earl Helton of Valley Park.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charlie Helton, Allie Wayne Helton, and Ray Helton; and two sisters, Belvia Holiday and Pauline Goans.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m., on Friday, December 3, 2010, at Campground Christian Church near Vancleve. Rev. Manuel Seaton will officiate. Interment will be in Stokes Cemetery near Meta.
