Emma L. (Davis) Smith, age 88, of Brumley, passed away Monday, March 9, 2009, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. She was born in Miller County on February 4, 1921, daughter of Willie and Lela (Miller) Davis. On December 11, 1970, in Junction City, Kansas, she married Bobby Smith, who preceded her in death on September 23, 2006.

She is survived by 19 children, Roy Halderman, Minnie Martin, Alma Sanford, David Halderman, Larry Halderman, Lonnie Halderman, Geraldine Hasenbank, Stanley Halderman, Fritz Halderman Jr., Linda Ortiz, Jimmie McNown, Jonnie McNown, Debra Royal, Tamara Dotson, Debra Flatt, Edward Dirkson, Melvin Smith, Bonnie Smith, and Richard Smith; three stepchildren, Daniel Miller, Adelia Miller, and Allen Miller; one sister Geraldine Kaiser of Brumley; 60 grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Loren Halderman; one sister; and two brothers.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. A private family graveside service will be held in Robinett Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the funeral home.
