Esther Groff, age 88, of Iberia, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Dixon on July 16, 1925, daughter of the late Leslie and Dollie (Smith) Atwell. On October 23, 1943, Martha married Robert William Groff, who preceded her in death on September 17, 2013.

Esther was a longtime active member of the First Christian Church in Iberia.
She was a civil service employee at Fort Wood where she worked as a bookkeeper for many years.

She is survived by four children, Gene Groff and wife Darlene of Iberia, Brenda Tucker and husband John of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Cindy Mote and husband Lyndon of Iberia, and William Groff and wife Nancy of Peoria, Illinois, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, three sisters, and two infant siblings.

Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 7, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rev. Stan Way will officiate. Interment will be in Iberia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Iberia Cemetery.
