Eva Jo Grady, age 90, formerly of Iberia, passed away on July 14, 2015, at 11:00 p.m., in Apopka, Florida. She was born on January 2, 1925, daughter of the late Leslie and Ruth (Arnold) Jones. On April 27, 1946, in Iberia, she married John Thomas Grady, who preceded her in death on March 13, 2005.
Mrs. Grady was a graduate of Iberia High School and Iberia Junior College. Mrs. Grady was employed as the City Clerk in Iberia for 9 years and was also employed in St. Louis at Stix, Baer and Fuller for 3 years.
Mrs. Grady was a member of the Iberia United Methodist Church since 1937 and the Iberia O.E.S #537 since 1943. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ at her church for over 74 years. Mrs. Grady actively undertook many community activities including volunteering as a Republican poll worker and various church events. She was an avid reader and had a talent and passion for sewing, knitting, and crocheting.
In 2010 she moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas, to live with daughter, Sandra Teeple and her husband. While living there she became a member of the Faithful Friends Sunday School Class. She attended a weekly meeting of the Chatting Needles at the Peitz Cancer Support House, still knitting and crocheting items for hospice and donation. In 2013 she embarked on another venture and moved to Apopka, Florida, with Sandra and Jim.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Jo Teeple (Jim), Sharon Czarnecki (Michael) and Sue Hurt; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and many other cherished family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her father and mother; brother, Donald Jones; sister, Phyllis Farnham; brother-in-law, Jack Farnham; sister-in-law, Rosalee Jones; and son-in-law, Jerry Hurt.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., with an Eastern Star and Memorial Service immediately following at 11 a.m., on Saturday, September 19, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Inurnment will be in Iberia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Iberia Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
