Obituary

Farris Russell, age 93, of Iberia, passed away on Thursday, May 23, at Osage Beach Nursing Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. He was born in Dixon on August 8, 1925, son of the late Joel and Bertha (Munch) Russell. On August 18, 1947, in Dixon, Farris married Ruby Lea Forbis, who preceded him in death on January 25, 1997.

Farris honorably served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked in civil service his entire working career and was a member of the Iberia VFW Post 6167, Iberia Masonic Lodge #410, and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by five sons, Bill Russell (Mary), Bob Russell (Lou), Jim Russell (Katherine), Tom Russell (Sharon), and John Russell; one daughter, Debby Hutt; 17 grandchildren: 39 great-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ralph Forbis; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Ruby Russell, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lea Ana Woolery and three brothers, William Lloyd Russell, Eliga Russell, and Barney Russell.

Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Dennis Nichols officiating. Interment with military honors will be held in Freedom Cemetery near Dixon.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 27, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
