Fern A. Hawken, age 74, of Eldon, died Wednesday, November 9, 2005, at Eldon Nursing and Rehab. He was born in Kaiser on March 2, 1931, a son of the late Charles A. and Mattie D. (Sennett) Hawken. On July 3, 1951, in Eldon, he was married to Doris Corrine Bond, who survives at the home.
He was a Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked at Gerbes Super Market in Eldon as a butcher retiring after more than 20 years of service in 1990. He was also a member of Riverview Baptist Church in Osage Beach.
Others who survive him include: three daughters, Debbie Easterla and husband Richard of Lake Ozark, Shirley Williams and husband Johnny of East Prairie and Theresa VanOs and husband Richard of Montreal; two sons, Jim Hawken and wife Paula of Lake Ozark and Charles Hawken and wife Brenda of Eldon; one sister, Anna Marie Ransdell of Lake Ozark; one brother, Robert Hawken and wife Sherry of Asheville, North Carolina; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
One sister, Clara Mae Hawken and one brother, Bill Hawken also preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 14, at Riverview Baptist Church in Osage Beach. Bro. Chuck Phillips will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens near Barnett.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon.
