Fern Pendleton, age 91, of Iberia, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2015, at her home. She was born in Iberia on July 19, 1924, daughter of the late Clyde and Effie (Atwell) Humphrey. On December 15, 1946, near Iberia, Fern married Carles Rosell Pendleton, who preceded her in death on January 20, 1988.
Fern graduated high school in 1942 and later graduated from Iberia Academy. She obtained her Master's degree from Lincoln University. She was a teacher for 37 years near Iberia. During her teaching career she taught at Washington and Liberty one-room schools, Crocker, and finished her teaching career at Iberia. She was a member of Red Hat, Missouri Retired Teachers Association, and Brays Advent Christian Church near Iberia.
She is survived by one son, Carles Pendleton of Fulton; two daughters, Loretta Steen and husband Tommy of Iberia and Denise McKee and husband Terry of Holts Summit; two grandchildren, Theresa L. Rodden of Iberia and Daryl T. Steen of Springfield; three great-grandchildren, Cassandra Minnick, Laurissa Rodden, and Keegan Steen; one great-great-granddaughter, Hannah Prather; and one sister-in-law, Pat Pendleton.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Dustin McKee and "BJ" McKee and three brothers.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with services immediately following at 2 p.m., on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Brays Advent Christian Church near Iberia. Bro. Brian Duncan will officiate. Interment will be in in Union Cemetery.
