Florentine Elizabeth Hagenhoff, age 93, of Meta, departed this life on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at The Timbers Assisted Living in Holts Summit. She was born on the farm outside of Meta, on November 27, 1927, eldest child of the late Henry and Agnes (Groner) Lueckenotto. On October 1, 1949, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta, Florentine was united in marriage to Fred Herman Hagenhoff, who preceded her in death on December 1, 2003.
Florentine worked various jobs from housework, waitressing, and factory work including Champion Canvas in Meta, Tweedie Footwear in Jefferson City, and Ottenheimer in Meta until retirement.
She loved spending time outdoors tending to her flowers, gardening, pulling weeds, and cutting grass. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and trying out new recipes for her family. Florentine had a talent for quilting, crocheting, and embroidering. She pieced numerous quilts and baby quilts for all her grandchildren. She would quilt each week in preparation for the St. Cecilia Parish picnic's quilt auction. Florentine volunteered at the St. Elizabeth Nursing Home and helped with numerous local blood drives.
She was an active member of the Meta community, serving on the church council, cemetery board, Citizens Civic League Board, caretaker of the local funeral home, and helped serve many funeral luncheons. She was a devoted member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta.
She is survived by five children, Janet (Edmund) Prenger of Taos, Daniel (Joyce) Hagenhoff of Henley, Dennis (Margie) Hagenhoff of Holts Summit, Margie (Dale) Helton of Meta, and Randy (Betty) Hagenhoff of Meta; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren with one on the way; two great-great-grandchildren; five siblings, Dorothy Buechter, Larry Lueckenotto, Marie Lueckenotto Norine Brune, and Mildred Wieberg; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one grandson, Jonathan Hagenhoff; great-granddaughter, Victoria Muenks; and six siblings, Jerri Schroeder, Rose Bisges, Fr. Arthur Lueckenotto "Fr. Luke", Imogene Volmert, Robert Lueckenotto, and Ed Lueckenotto.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at St. Cecilia Catholic in Meta with Fr. Leonard Mukiibi officiating. Interment will be held in St. Cecilia Cemetery in Meta.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 5 p.m., on Friday, July 9, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church.
