Flossie Long Martin, age 88, of Iberia, died Friday, August 29, 2008, at Lake Regional Hospital. She was born in Miller County on December 19, 1919, daughter of Harley and Sally (Harrison) Long. On October 8, 1938, in Iberia, she was married to Vernon Castle Martin Sr., who preceded her in death on December 17, 1997.

She was a member of the Iberia First Christian Church and the Iberia American Legion Post 105 Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include one daughter, JoAnn Plemmons of Iberia; five grandchildren, Rory Plemmons, Rachelle Mason, Tammy Anderson, Kimberly Lassiter, and Tracie Martin; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; three sisters; one son, Vernon Castle Martin Jr.; and one grandson, James Martin.

Visitation will be from 12 noon until 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 31, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Stan Way officiating. Interment will be in Iberia Cemetery.
