Francis Humphrey, age 79, of Iberia, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. He was born in Iberia on January 30, 1931, son of the late Raymond and Ruth (Bond) Humphrey. On June 26, 1953, in Iberia, Francis married Vivian Singleton, who survives at the home.
Francis served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the 301st Signal Operator Battalion. While overseas he was an Outgoing Supervisor in Communication Center. After the war he worked as a butcher for Okley Kinder's Grocery Store and then for Ft. Leonard Wood. He and his wife Vivian later opened up there own business, "Humphrey's 66 Station", which they owned and operated for ten years. He then worked at Bonanza Boat Factory for about a year and then decided to work for Miller County Ambulance District. While working there he also worked part time for Perkins Garage, Iberia Auto Supply, and Law Oil Company. After working for 12 years for the Miller County Ambulance, Francis went on to work for Iberia Mechanical and worked there for 7 years and then he retired. Francis enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and retirement. He was a member of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 and the Iberia First Christian Church
He is also survived by four children, Sheila Dake and husband David of Crocker, Pam Brumley and husband Doug of Iberia, Dennis Humphrey of Iberia, and Terry Green and husband Mike of Iberia; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Givens and one step grandson, Shanon Brumley.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m., with services immediately following at 3 p.m., on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at the Iberia First Christian Church. Rev. Stan Way will officiate. Interment with military honors under the direction of Iberia VFW Post 6167 and American Legion Post 105 will be in Livingston Cemetery near Iberia.
