Dr. George Henry Bailey, age 63, of Dixon, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Fort Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital. He was born in Waynesville on July 17, 1949, son of Henry Axton and Mary Eunice (Butcher) Bailey. On December 30, 1978, in Rolla, George married Linda Carty, who survives at the home.
George graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in 1968. After high school, he attended dental school at UMKC where he graduated in 1974. That same year he established his first dental practice in Dixon and a few years later in 1981 he opened a practice in Waynesville. George received Master of Public Health Degree from St. Louis University in St. Louis. He was elected in 2012 to the American College of Dentistry.
He was a Missouri Dental Associate Delegate and served as past President of Ozark Dental Society. George was a loyal and enthusiastic Mizzou Fan.
He is also survived by two daughters, Allyson Wilmowski and husband Tom of St. Louis and Rachel Bailey of Bloomington, Indiana; and numerous family and friends.
Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 3, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Interment will be held in Red Cemetery near Iberia.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, at the funeral home.
