George Gable Earp, age 91, of Iberia, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2011, at his daughter's home in Iberia. He was born in Iberia on September 4, 1920, son of the late James and Bertha (Ponder) Earp. On January 5, 1946, in Iberia, George married Stella Jean Brumley, who preceded him in death on July 25, 2008.

He worked on the family farm south of Iberia until he entered the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1939 through 1940. Mr. Earp also served his country during World War II in the United States Army from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945. After the war, Mr. Earp worked as an automobile mechanic at the Ed Hunt Ford Dealership in Eldon and worked for over 30 years at Perkins Chevrolet in Iberia, from which he retired. He was a member of the Iberia First Christian Church for over 55 years, serving as a deacon and a member of the board.

He is survived by one daughter Judy Farnham and husband Larry of Iberia; five grandchildren, Scott Farnham and fiancée Amanda Perkins of Iberia, Stephanie Cline of Iberia, Alicia Earp Glazner and husband Mark of Crosby, Texas, Jennifer Vigeon of Lumberton, Texas, and Kelly Earp King of Lumberton, Texas; eight great-grandchildren Alexis Cline, Ciara Cline, Taner Grace Cline, Harmony Cline, Zachary Cline, Liam Gable Farnham, Wyatt Earp Glazner, and Kingston Vigeon; three brothers, Lester Earp, Phillip Earp, and David Earp all of Iberia; and one sister, Veta Whitaker of Blue Springs.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Stephen G. Earp in 1987; two sisters, Mae Davenport and Ruby Jones; and one brother, Claude Earp.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with services immediately following at 2 p.m., on Monday, January 2, 2012, at the Iberia First Christian Church. Bro. Stan Way will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Iberia Cemetery.
