Obituary

George August Palaska III, age 84, of Dixon, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021. He was born in Kansas City, MO, on September 10, 1936, son of the late George Palaska Jr. and Iona (King) Palaska. On September 19, 1959, in Kansas City, George was united in marriage to Janice Elaine (Douglas) Palaska, who survives at their home.

George served in the United States Army from April of 1957 until his honorable discharge on April 1, 1960. Following his discharge from the Army, George was employed as a computer repairman with Control Data Corporation for over 30 years and later worked with the United States Postal System until retirement.

His favorite pastime was working on his farm in rural Miller County, tending to the animals and land. One of his many hobbies was being a HAM radio operator.

George loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He took great pride in being a grandfather and sharing his passion for hunting and fishing with his grandchildren.

In addition to his loving wife, Janice Palaska, he is also survived by two children, Chris Palaska and wife Danielle of Kansas City and Tracy Palaska of Liberty; two grandchildren, Michael Palaska and wife Alissa of Republic and Nichole Palaska of Kansas City; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Jaxson Palaska; brother, Ted Palaska of Dallas; sister, Betty Jo Diven of Kansas City; and numerous family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home, 2247 Highway 17, Iberia, MO 65486.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, April 14, at White Chapel Cemetery in Gladstone, MO.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri Sheriff's Association.
