George O. Plemmons, age 84, of Ulman, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014, at his home. He was born in Miller County on July 21, 1930, son of the late Clarence and Virginia (McClasky) Plemmons. On July 14, 1950, in Harrison Arkansas, George married Delores Minnie Troxell, who preceded him in death on November 18, 2013.
George served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge on January 14, 1953. He was a member of the Brumley Baptist Church.
He is survived by one son, Steve Plemmons and wife Willetta of Ulman; one daughter, Debbie Stillwell and husband Troy of Ulman; six grandchildren, Ollie Plemmons of Ulman, Randy Plemmons of Ulman, Zachary Plemmons of Ulman, Misty Wilhite of Loveland, Colorado, Chad Stillwell of Ulman, and Stacy Stillwell of Ulman; two step-grandchildren, Wyatt Byrd and Alexis Byrd; seven great-grandchildren, Cody Stillwell, Cole Stillwell, Briana Beard, Bryson Beard, Christopher Wilhite, David Wilhite, and Braydee Stillwell; three sisters, Bettie Heard, Carolyn Kelsay, and Mary Hoskins; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his wife Delores, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kent Reed.
Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 26, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Kevin Blackburn will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Hawkins Cemetery near Brumley.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, at the funeral home.
