George Simon Syrigos, age 69, of Holts Summit, stepped into heaven holding hands with his wife and daughter on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. He was born on November 8, 1956, son of the late Simon and Irene (Tsakir) Syrigos. George fell in love and married his bride, Jan Jablonsky, on February 17, 1985, in Columbia. She survives at their home.

George graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife. During his career he shared his passion for God’s creation through serving at Runge Conservation Nature Center, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and his family-owned company, WildHeart/WildCamp. He particularly loved children, inspiring many young minds to explore and respect nature. As an avid outdoorsman he took great pleasure in fishing, canoeing, and hunting with his family.

George lived large with his laugh, love and strong commitment to Jesus. He served local churches as both a youth and children’s pastor and was a licensed minister with Assemblies of God. He devoted his wonderful voice to the Lord in worship.

In addition to his loving wife, Jan Syrigos, he is also survived by his daughter, Sophia Syrigos; two brothers, Mike (Kelli) Syrigos and Chris (Debbie) Syrigos; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A Celebration of Big George’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 17 at Solid Rock Church in Jefferson City. Visitation is from 2-4 p.m., followed by the service at 4 p.m. and then dinner. A private interment will be held at Southside Cemetery in Meta.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta.
