Gerald Lloyd Barlow, age 89, of Mexico, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at his home. He was born in rural Iberia on August 23, 1928, son of the late Andrew and Sirilda (Shelton) Barlow. On January 2, 1948, in Iberia, Gerald married Bonnie (Aust) Barlow, who preceded him in death on December 11, 2011.
Gerald served in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 until his honorable discharge in 1950. He worked as a laboratory technologist in Kankakee, IL and Columbia before moving to Mexico, MO in 1954 to work at the Audrain Medical Center until his retirement in 1992.
Gerald previously attended Hickory Point Baptist Church in Iberia and later became a member of the First Baptist Church of Mexico.
He is survived by two sons, Gregory Barlow and wife Jane of Jefferson City and Jeffrey Barlow and wife Susan of Kansas City; three granddaughters, Jill Gockel and husband Eric of Maryville, Sarah Broughton and husband Jared of Blue Springs and Lesley Barlow of Jefferson City; four great-grandchildren, Kody, Kamryn, Jaxson and Nathan; one brother, James Barlow and wife Lora of Iberia; and one sister, Linda Curtman and husband Terry of Iberia.
He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Jeremy Barlow and one sister, Eunice Brumley.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 (noon), with services immediately following at 12 (noon), on Saturday, April 21, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Kelvin Walker officiating. Interment will be in Hickory Point Cemetery near Iberia.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Livingston Cemetery or Hickory Point Cemetery.
