Gerald R. Wall, age 88, of Iberia, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. He was born in Watkins on March 25, 1922, son of the late Rolla and Elsie (Bond) Wall. On September 15, 1982, in Forsyth, Gerald married Maudie Cottle, who preceded him in death on August 30, 1999.
He was a Navy Veteran serving in World War II from October 1942 to January 1946. He loved his farming and visiting with people. He worked for the Miller County Highway Department for several years. He was a member of the Iberia VFW Post 6167, Iberia American Legion Post 105, the Hickory Point Cemetery Board, and looked after and marked out graves for over 50 years. Gerald was a member of Hickory Baptist Church near Iberia.
He is survived by one sister, Loeta Herrell of Iberia and several nieces, nephews, family, and friends, who he loved to be around and tease.
He is also preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, Kenneth Wall, Glennis Pemberton, Phyllis Resa, Geraldine Padden, and Clate Wall.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2010, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Brother Gene Edwards will officiate. Interment with military honors under the direction of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 and American Legion Post 105 will be in Hickory Point Cemetery near Iberia.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hickory Point Cemetery.
