Gerhard H. Robbins, age 62, of Dixon, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at his home. He was born in Furth, Germany, on December 30, 1951, son of the late Jimmie Ray and Christa Else (Hecker) Robbins. On March 22, 1986, in Dixon, Gerhard married Linda Maudie Ann Howser, who survives at the home.
Gerhard served in the Army during Vietnam, where he received several awards including the Airborne and Pathfinder Course Completion. Later he served in the Army National Guard during Desert Storm and was honorably discharged on April 4, 2004.
He worked at MODOT for 30 years until his retirement in 2010. He also worked at M.W.R at Ft. Wood as a small engine mechanic for three years. Gerhard was an avid farmer, hunter, and fisherman.
He is also survived by three children, Christa Sue Robbins of Red Oak, Texas, Bradly Robbins and wife Jenni of Iberia, and Maudie Robbins of Dixon; two grandchildren, Kristina Allen of Red Oak, Texas and Tanner Robbins of Iberia; two brothers, Bernhard Hecker and wife Martina of Germany and Jimmie Robbins Jr. and wife Janice of Ellington; four sisters, Edna Wilkinson and husband Larry of Fredericktown, Merrie Pendleton and husband Tim of Iberia, Katherina Robbins of Jefferson City, and Patricia Ruprecht and husband Butch of Jefferson City; one brother-in-law, Ray Howser of Iberia; mother-in-law, Bernadine Howser of Dixon; 15 nieces and nephews; eight great-nieces and nephews; and numerous relatives and friends.
Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Manuel Seaton will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Dick Lawson Cemetery near Dixon.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 28, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Dick Lawson Cemetery.
