Gertrude Marie (Rehagen) Kirkweg, age 84, of St. Elizabeth, passed away Friday, April 17, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Care Center. She was born in St. Elizabeth on September 27, 1924, daughter of Frank George and Mary (Boeckman) Rehagen. On June 19, 1948, in St. Elizabeth, she married Lawrence Henry Kirkweg, who preceded her in death on March 2, 2000.

Gertrude was a member of St. Ann's Sodality and St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth.

She is survived by two nephews, Raymond Rehagen and wife Susan of Holts Summit and Leroy Rehagen and wife Gail of St. Elizabeth; one niece, Carolyn Kliethermes and husband Jerome of Eldon; and extended family, Connie Kreutz and husband Martin of Holts Summit, Sharon Helton and husband Randy of St. Elizabeth, and Donna Mueller and husband Art of Westphalia.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Lawrence, Roman, and Herman Rehagen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2009 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Rev. Clarence Wiederholt will officiate. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in St. Elizabeth.
