Glen I. Shelton, age 83, of Brumley, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012, at his home. He was born in Iberia on December 8, 1928, son of the late, Gilbert and Ada (Condra) Shelton. On March 30, 1956, in Brumley, Glen married Mary Jo Reinhart, who survives at the home.
Glen served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from November 29, 1950, until his honorable discharge on November 28, 1952. After the war he owned and operated Brumley Mercantile for 32 years from 1960 until his retirement in 1992. He was a founding member of the Brumley Lions Club and the Brumley Fire Department. Glen was a member and Deacon of the Brumley Baptist Church.
He is also survived by one son, Kevin Shelton of Lake Ozark; one daughter, Helen Cato and husband William of Brumley; three grandchildren, Darrick Cato of Brumley, Kristen Cato of Branson, and Whitney Shelton of Osage Beach; and two sisters, Anna Ruth McDonald of Brumley and Inah Lou Wilson of Iberia.
Service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at Brumley Baptist Church. Bro. Warren Mitchell will officiate. Interment with military honors under the direction of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 and American Legion Post 105 will be in Hawkins Cemetery in Brumley.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 23, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
