Gloria L. Campbell, age 79, of Eldon, died Sunday, December 4, 2005, at Eldon Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Fort Scott, Kansas on February 22, 1926, a daughter of the late Peter Franklin and Jewel (King) Cooper. On February 22, 1947, in Highpoint, she was married to Ray Campbell, who survives at the home.
A homemaker, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Eldon. She was also a founding member of Eldon VFW Post 2442.
Others who survive her include: One son, Fred Smock and wife Susan of Paola, Kansas; one daughter, Margaret Louise Rush and husband Marvin of Eldon; nine grandchildren, Holly (Smock) Robinett, Monty, Darren, Rob and Sam Smock, and Duane, Marty, Shanna and Shawn Rush; twelve great grandchildren, Rebecca, Miles and Brice Carroll, Cody, Wes, Levi, Janie and Shelby Smock, Cole, Jasmine and Addison Rush and Grace Flaugher; one sister, Margarett Alma Givens and numerous nieces and nephews.
One daughter, Betty Smock and one grandson, Kenneth Carroll, also preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, with services immediately following at 2:00 p.m. at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Pastor Randall Bunch will officiate. Interment will be in Greenridge Baptist Church Cemetery near Eldon.
