Grace Mae Groves, age 100, of Iberia, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013. She was born near Iberia on August 1, 1912, daughter of the late Clyde and Mamie (Hale) Skaggs. On September 7, 1929, Grace married Floy Oddly Groves, who preceded her in death on December 22, 1993.

As a young girl, Grace was baptized and joined Bray's Advent Christian Church near Iberia. She served as a deaconess and Sunday School teacher for many years. She quilted with the ladies group for 74 years beginning when she was 14 years old. She enjoyed many things, including gardening, cooking, and making floral arrangements. She worked at the election polls in Iberia for many years. She loved discussing her ancestry and having her family around, especially for holiday dinners.

She is survived by two sons, Davie Groves and wife Carol and Gary Groves and wife Donna both of Iberia; three daughters, Judy Gilbert of Springfield, Carol Groves of St. Louis, and Kathy Bonesteel and husband Tom of Spring, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim Skaggs of Crocker; one sister, Irene Ward and husband Ben of St. Louis; and several nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by three sons, Joe Groves, C.G. Groves, and Leo Groves; three grandchildren, Michael Groves, Beth Groves-Johnson, and Theresa Darnell; and two brothers, Argus Skaggs and Arthur "Abb" Skaggs.

Visitation will be from 12 (noon) to 2 p.m., with services immediately following at 2 p.m., on Thursday, March 28, at Bray's Advent Christian Church near Iberia. Bro. Roy Gilkey will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
