Obituary

Harold Alvin Pendleton, age 96, of St. Elizabeth, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia. He was born in Tuscumbia on March 22, 1924, son of the late Osby and Susan (McKee) Pendleton. On February 18, 1948, Harold was united in marriage to Lillie Dorane Ahart, who preceded him in death on October 31, 2018.

Harold served in the United States Navy during WWII until his honorable discharge on March 4, 1946. Harold and his brother, John, went on the Honor Flight in 2009.

Harold had a strong work ethic and was employed with various companies including, Hudson Oil as a dozer operator, lineman with LE Meyer out of St. Louis, and supervisor at AO Smith in Granite City, Illinois, where they made auto frames. In 1966 Harold started farming poultry and cattle until his retirement.

He was a faithful member of Tuscumbia Christian Church, where he served as deacon.

He is survived by one son, Mike Pendleton and wife Lynn of Tuscumbia; two grandsons, Brett Pendleton and wife Chelsea of St. Elizabeth and Bart Pendleton and wife Chelsea of Ulman; 3 great-grandchildren Bennett, Brooklyn and Olivia; brother, Denny Pendleton; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Lillie, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Pendleton; brother, John Pendleton; and two sisters, Nadine Moore and Ila Shepard.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Tuscumbia, with a celebration of life at a later date.
