Harry Richard Stuckenschneider, age 86, of Florissant formerly of St. Elizabeth, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2011, at Delmar Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in O'Fallon. He was born in St. Elizabeth on September 4, 1924, son of the late Conrad and Angeline (Holtmeyer) Stuckenschneider. On September 5, 1953, Harry married Doris Pearl Prater, who preceded him in death on December 19, 1984.
Harry served in the United States Army from November 30, 1948 until his discharge on August 10, 1951. He retired from Laclede Gas Company in St. Louis in 1980. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth.
He is survived by several nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 12 (noon) on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in St. Elizabeth. Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 12 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Fr. Ben Nwosu will officiate. Interment with military honors under the direction of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 and American Legion Post 105 will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Lawrence Cemetery or St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
