Hazel A. Dawson, age 96, of Pittsburg formerly of Iberia, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011, at Christian Health and Rehabilitation of Hermitage. She was born in Iberia on February 18, 1915, daughter of the late James and Cora (Wall) Miller. In 1932 Hazel married Joe Dawson, who preceded her in death in 1979.

Hazel was a member of the Iberia First Baptist Church and the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She worked in Miller County as a Missouri Outreach worker helping many apply for and receive Social Security and other needed benefits and she also served as the Miller County Treasurer.

She is survived by three children, Wyanette Turner of St. Louis, David Dawson and wife Norma of Pittsburg, and Rhonda Scott and husband Jerry of Pittsburg; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Dawson; one son, Dennie Dawson; two sisters, Pearl Burks and Clara Wall; and two brothers, Clyde Miller and Curt Miller.

Visitation will be held from 12 (noon) to 2 p.m., with a private graveside service immediately following at 2 p.m., on Saturday, December 10, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Interment will be in the Iberia Cemetery.
