Helen R. Livingston, age 96, of Iberia, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2012, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Iberia on April 24, 1916, daughter of the late William Penn and Mary Alma (Ponder) Spearman. On December 24, 1934, Helen married Guy Flaugher, who preceded her in death in 1946. On November 24, 1948, in Tuscumbia, Helen married Herbert Livingston, who preceded her in death on August 6, 1990.
She volunteered in the Nursery at both the First Baptist Church and the Iberia Youth Center. Helen was a member of the Eastern Star, Iberia Community Club, American Legion Auxillary, and of Iberia First Baptist Church.
She is survived by four children, Shirley Powell of Iberia, Franklin Flaugher and wife Judy of Iberia, Donna Welch and husband Robert of DuBuque, Iowa, and Elizabeth Cook and husband Mark of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; one stepdaughter, Janis Lawson of Iberia; 35 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Hawk and Mary Ann Miller; one son, Bill Flaugher; two stepchildren, Dolores Grady and Herbert L. Livingston; and four brothers, Jack Spearman, Hal Spearman, Perry Spearman, and George Thomas Spearman.
Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Iberia First Baptist Church. Interment will be in Hickory Point Cemetery near Iberia.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
