Henrietta Kroll, age 86, of St. Thomas, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016, at Jefferson City Manor. She was born in Taos on February 18, 1930, daughter of the late Anton and Augusta (Forck) Grothoff. On May 16, 1951, in Taos, Henrietta married Herbert J. Kroll, who survives at the home.
Henrietta was a choir member and organist at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church for over 40 years. She played the organ for many masses, funerals, weddings, and various school events.
Henrietta was a member of St. Thomas Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Ladies Auxiliary, St. Ann's Sodality, and St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
In addition to her husband, Herbert Kroll, she is also survived by eight children, Linda Hughes and husband David of Clark, Dennis Kroll and wife Gerene of Jefferson City, Bob Kroll and wife Mary of Broken Arrow, OK, Rose Ann Ruzicka and husband Ken of Jefferson City, Delores Crocker and husband Jim of Batesville, IN, Mary Lynn Weiner and husband Rob of Overland Park, KS, Stanley Kroll and wife Sharlet of St. Thomas, and Jean Kliethermes and husband Keith of St. Thomas; 26 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Mary Jane Henke and husband Fred of Taos, Wilfred Grothoff and wife Rita of Wardsville, Herman Grothoff and wife Wilma of Taos, Tom Grothoff and wife Agnes of Taos, and Bill Grothoff and wife Barbara of Folk.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Grothoff; two sisters, Dorothy Luebbering and Loretta Hilkemeyer; and one daughter-in-law, Diane Kroll.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 16, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Fr. Jeremy Secrist will officiate. Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 4 p.m., on Sunday, May 15, at the church.
