Herbert D. Burnett, age 84, of Iberia, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. He was born in Granite City, Illinois, on May 22, 1928, son of the late Cordell "Bud" and Florence (Stark) Burnett. On June 21, 1947, in Iberia, Herbert married Barbara Dean Wilson, who survives at the home. They were married for over 65 years.
Herbert owned and operated Kraml Wood for over 35 years with his business partner Dave Taylor. He was a member of First Christian Church in Iberia, and was baptized on November 17, 1968.
Herbert served in the United States Army from January 1952 until his honorable discharge in December of 1953. He was a member of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 and American Legion Post 105.
He was a member of the Iberia Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Iberia City Council, and the Iberia Lions Club. Herbert served on the Electric Cooperative Board and volunteered for the Iberia Fire Department, Miller County Ambulance, and the Iberia Auxillary Police. He also coached the Khourly League.
He is also survived by two daughters, Beverly McDaniel and Greg Addington of Montreal and Lori Burnett and Tom Humphrey of Iberia; his dear friends, Benny Luttrell and wife Jackie of Iberia, Donnie Grove of Logan, Utah, and Dave Taylor and wife Dorothy of Lake Ozark; four grandchildren, Travis McDaniel, Wes Humphrey and Katie Farrow, Danielle Humphrey, and Nick McDaniel and Katie all of Iberia; four great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ina Wilson of Iberia and Ramona Burnett of Granite City, Illinois; one brother-in-law, James M. Wilson and wife Janet of Florissant; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Truman Burnett, Lawrence Burnett, and Bill Burnett; two sisters, Lucy Benda and Jewell Lindsey; and one sister-in-law, June Wilson.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with funeral and Masonic Service immediately following at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, February 5, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Interment with military honor under the direction of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 and American Legion Post 105 will be in Livingston Cemetery near Iberia.
