Herbert F. Kliethermes, age 90, of St. Elizabeth, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Care Center. He was born in St. Elizabeth on March 12, 1920, son of the late Matt and Genovefa (Jaegers) Kliethermes. On September 6, 1950, in St. Elizabeth, Herbert married Ludmilla Struemph, who survives at the home.

Herbert served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942-1945. He drove a truck for several years and was a farmer in Miller County all his life. He loved farming and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Herbert was a member of St. Joseph's Sodality and St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth.

He is also survived by six children, Don Kliethermes and wife Lucy of St. Elizabeth, David Kliethermes and wife Delphine of St. Anthony, Roger Kliethermes and wife Shirley of St. Elizabeth, Dennis Kliethermes and wife Doris of St. Elizabeth, Ralph Kliethermes of St. Elizabeth, and Joann Evers and husband Alan of St. Elizabeth; ten grandchildren, Doug Kliethermes, Darla Kliethermes, Jacob Kliethermes, Brad Kliethermes, Aaron Kliethermes, Andrea Fisher, Josh Evers, Brittany Evers, Shanley Kliethermes, and John Kliethermes; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorraine Luebbert; and one brother, Leo Kliethermes.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at the St. Elizabeth Community Center. Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 1 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Rev. Daniel Lueckenotte will officiate. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in St. Elizabeth.
