Herman T. Schulte, age 87, of Meta, formerly of St. Thomas, died Monday, July 24, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Care Center. He was born in St. Thomas on July 19, 1919, a son of the late Henry and Anna (Sommer) Schulte.
He spent his entire life farming in the St. Thomas community and was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta.
Those who survive him include: one sister, Margaret Bax of Jefferson City; nine nieces and nephews, Celestine Stegeman and Viola Volmert both of Jefferson City, Joan Poettgen of Edgerton, Wisconsin, Rosella Reinkemeyer and husband Jim of St. Thomas, Harold Schulte of Columbia, Joseph Bax and wife Bernice of Eldon, Dennis Bax and wife Ann of Jefferson City, Marcia Slaughter and husband Steve of Jefferson City and Judy Hoelscher and husband Leonard of Jefferson City.
Two brothers, Edwin and Louis Schulte; two sisters, Catherine Loethen and Emma Hirshberg and two nephews Robert Schulte and Delmer Loethen also preceded him in death.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 28, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Father Joseph Shetler will officiate. Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at St. Thomas Knights of Columbia Hall with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Elizabeth Care Center or St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
