Howard Curtis "Curt" Blankenship, age 74, of Rocky Mount, died Monday, November 21, 2005, at Lake Regional Hospital. He was born in Camden County on July 13, 1931, a son of the late Porter Alford and Edith Mae Blankenship. On July 31, 1956, in Eldon, he was married to Carolyn Jeanene Keeth, who survives at the home.
Curt was a Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked as a barber at Lake of the Ozarks for many years. He was very active in 4-H with his children and grandchildren and he was also very active in the community. He was a school board member at School of the Osage and was a member and deacon of Blue Springs Baptist Church.
Others who survive him include: Three daughters, Anita Mitchell and husband Ron of Eldon, Martha Blankenship of Kansas City and Roberta Pemberton and husband Robert of Rocky Mount; one son, Keeth Blankenship and wife Rose of Lake Ozark; two sisters, Daisey King of Brumley and LaVerne Leffert of Eldon; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
One grandson, James Curtis Pemberton, also preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, November 25, with services immediately following at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Bro. John Shifflet will officiate. Interment with military honors under the direction of VFW Post # 2442, will be held at a later date in Greenmore Memorial Gardens near Barnett.
