Obituary

Hugo George Blomberg, age 93, of St. Anthony, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia. He was born in St. Elizabeth on November 8, 1924, son of the late Joseph and Ruby (Boedicker) Blomberg. On April 16, 1955, in St. Anthony, Hugo married Irene Catherine Bax, who preceded him in death on August 14, 2004.

Hugo served in the United States Army during WWII until his honorable discharge on November 15, 1946. While serving in the war, Hugo drove a fire truck to military camps in Hawaii hauling fire-fighting equipment and personnel to fire sites.

He was a past member of the Iberia VFW Post 6167. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and loved fishing and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Hugo was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and was actively involved in the St. Anthony Parish and the community.

He is survived by two daughters, Joan Imhoff and husband Tom of Jefferson City and Arlene Boessen and husband David of Holts Summit; one son, Alan Blomberg of St. Anthony; five grandchildren, Jordan Qualls and husband Matt, Grayson Imhoff and wife Colleen, Robert Hugo Imhoff, Matt Boessen and fiancée Mary, and Jackie Boessen; one great-grandchild due in July; and one brother, Harold Blomberg of St. Anthony.

In addition to his wife, Irene, and his parents, he was also preceded in death by five siblings, Herbert, Pauline, Minnie, Chris, Alice and Anita.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in St. Anthony with Fr. Joshua Duncan officiating. Interment will be held in St. Anthony Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., on Monday, January 29, at the St. Anthony Parish Hall.
