Ila M. Smith, age 91, of Crocker, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at her home.  She was born in Sturdivant, Missouri, on November 23, 1932, daughter of the late Ervin and Ermil (Bollinger) Proffer.  On March 10, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Ila was united in marriage to Earl Gene Smith, who preceded her in death on August 29, 2001.

Ila was a founding member of the Iberia Quilt Club and was a Champion Quilter.  She was a talented seamstress with a knack for upholstering.  She took great pleasure in spending time outdoors, taking in all that nature offers, especially bird watching and tending to her flower gardens.

Ila enjoyed the peacefulness and beauty of her home, which she always kept in pristine condition.  She welcomed the company of family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She possessed many endearing qualities and was an excellent cook who enjoyed hosting her family for meals and special occasions.  Her many years of life have blessed her with countless experiences and memories.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Roderick Smith; daughter, Beverly Smith; two grandchildren, Ilana and Myra; three great grandchildren, Gabriel, Ila, and Nova; and her special cousin, Maxine.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, at Crocker Cemetery with Agnes Vojte eulogizing the memory of Ila.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Crocker Cemetery.
