Imogene Ann (Lueckenotto) Volmert, age 90, of St. Thomas, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at St. Joseph's Bluffs in Jefferson City. She was born in St. Thomas on February 12, 1930, daughter of the late Henry and Agnes (Groner) Lueckenotto. On October 1, 1949, in Meta, Imogene was united in marriage to Herbert Lambert Volmert, who preceded her in death on February 25, 2009.
Imogene had a rewarding career as a homemaker and mother of five. She also helped her husband, Herbert, on their dairy farm with various chores and each year they would grow and tend to a large garden. Her favorite pastime included playing cards, quilting, bowling and volunteering at the St. Elizabeth Nursing Home. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Imogene was a woman of great faith and was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons, Roger Volmert (Eileen) and David Volmert (Peggy) both of St. Thomas; three daughters, Linda Kiesling (David) of Jefferson City, Darlene Libbert (Danny) of St. Thomas, and Ruth Stokes (Jim) of Jefferson City; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Florentine Hagenhoff, Dorothy Buechter, Ed Lueckenotto, Larry Lueckenotto, Mil Wieberg, Norine Brune, and Marie Lueckenotto; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by four siblings, Jerri Schroeder, Rose Bisges, Fr. Arthur Lueckenotto "Fr. Luke", and Robert Lueckenotto and grandson, Kurt Volmert.
A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas with Fr. Leonard Mukiibi officiating. The public is welcome to attend the graveside service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, at the St. Thomas Cemetery in St. Thomas.
The family has requested for anyone attending the private mass or the public graveside service to wear a mask.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church or School.
