Obituary

Ina Mae Thompson, age 85, of Iberia, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at Osage Beach Health Center. She was born in her childhood home near Ben Town in Miller County, Missouri on May 12, 1930, daughter of the late Eather and Malone (Allee) Keeth. On March 11, 1951, in Fulton County, Arkansas, Ina married Harley Merl Thompson, who preceded her in death on September 5, 1999.

Ina was a lifelong resident of the Iberia and Ben Town community. She lived on the farm that was homesteaded by her great-grandfather, Peter J. Whittle. She loved her little home on that farm and enjoyed everything about farm life; raising chickens, turkeys, cattle, dogs and the simple peace and quiet. Ina had children later in life so she especially appreciated her boys and her grandchildren. All of the grandkids enjoyed the walks down to the creek kicking rocks along the gravel road and skipping rocks in the water when they got there. She also loved birds and spent many hours watching out the window for Red Birds and other wildlife.

Ina had three very special high school girlfriends who were her friends for life; Bobbie Pemberton, Barb Rollins and the late Beryl Whittle. They met almost every week for over 60 years to drink coffee and visit. Her pot was always full. Ina was a member of Iberia Church of Christ.

She is survived by two sons, Phil Thompson and wife Sherry and Davie Thompson and wife Liz both of Iberia; five grandchildren, Tiffany Keeth and husband Andrew, Kyle Thompson, Emily Thompson, Katie Thompson, and Dakota Thompson; two great-grandchildren, Kasen Keeth and Aubree Keeth; one brother, Don Keeth; and one sister, Verna Pemberton.

In addition to her husband, Merl Thompson, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Margie Tupling of Yakama Washington.

Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 15, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Edward Martin, elder at the Iberia Church of Christ, will officiate. Interment will be in Curry Cemetery near Iberia.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, at the funeral home.
