Iven Earl Witt, age 85, of Brumley, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at his home.  He was born in Brumley on September 10, 1937, son of the late Everett and Tilda (Shelton) Witt.  On July 10, 1959, in Iberia, Iven was united in marriage to Joyce Irene Forester, who preceded him in death on September 3, 2017.

Iven took great pride in his farmland.  He enjoyed working cattle and carrying out other day to day operations of the farm.  He enjoyed playing pitch with neighbors and spending time outdoors hunting rabbit and coons.  In addition to farming, Iven was a rock mason by trade, serving all over the Iberia area.  His family, especially his grandchildren, were the greatest joys of his life and he always welcomed their company.  Iven was baptized in 2006 and attended member of Hilltop Christian Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Judy (Frank) McGowan; granddaughter, Chastity (Daniel) Willers; grandson, Cody (Jessica) McGowan; five great-grandchildren, Maddex McGowan, Cannon McGowan, Chesney McGowan, Landon Starnes, and Layton Starnes; three siblings, Jim (Doris) Witt, Allen (Barb) Witt, and Brenda (Jerry) Strickland; brother-in-law, Jim Forester; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by eight siblings, Ruth Rodden, Irene McDowell, Grace York, Dean Plemmons, Nora Rodden, Lois Comer, Jerry Witt, and Doral Witt.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, January 17, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Freddie Earp officiating.  Interment will be held in Mt. Union Cemetery in Brumley.
