Jack D. McDowell, age 72, of Iberia, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009, at his home. He was born in Iberia on August 22, 1937, son of Virgil P. and Edith L. (Sauls) McDowell. On July 5, 1955, in Kansas City, Jack married Bonnie Bell Witt, who preceded him in death on December 6, 2006.

Jack was a member of Walk on the Water Faith Church in Osage Beach.

He is survived by one daughter, Tammie M. Duncan and husband Tracy of Iberia; one granddaughter, Samantha Smoot and husband Tony of Iberia; one grandson, Matthew Liebrum of Iberia; five great-grandchildren, Aaron Liebrum, Abigail Liebrum, Ethan Leibrum, AvaLynn Liebrum, Dylan Smoot, and Baby Smoot due in January; and his father, Virgil McDowell of Iberia.

He was also preceded in death by his mother.

Visitation will be held from 12 (noon) - 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, with services immediately following at 1 p.m. at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
Pastor Larry Ollison will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Hawkeye Cemetery.
