Jackie "Jack" Laymon Fancher, age 76, of Iberia, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, January 25, 2021. He was born in Iberia on November 6, 1944, son of the late Norman Jackson "Jack" Fancher and Anna Lorene (Keeth) Fancher.
Jack was a life-long resident of Iberia and an active member of the community. He was a great supporter of the Iberia R-V School and member of the Iberia Masonic Lodge. Jack had a successful career owning and operating various local businesses for over 50 years. He co-owned Fancher Brothers Service Station in Iberia for numerous years and later Fancher's Convenience Store.
Jack was a motorsport enthusiast and enjoyed attending races and mud-runs with his family. His passion for cars and mechanics is a favorite pastime that is shared with his family. In his earlier years, Jack attended and competed in many truck and tractor pulls where he would pull his Fancher Brothers pulling truck. He enjoyed fishing at his pond and participating in fishing tournaments.
Jack loved his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the light of his world. His wit and sense of humor will live on in generations to come. He always had a smile on his face and a joke to share.
He is survived by two sons, Cory Fancher and Andrew Fancher (Melanie) both of Iberia; stepson, Najem Agnew (Melissa) and his three sons all of Springfield; three grandchildren, Jansen Fancher, Anna Fancher and Jackson Fancher all of Iberia; brother, Terry Fancher of Iberia; sister, Peggy Thompson (Tom) of Iberia; and numerous family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lorene Fancher.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., with a memorial service immediately following at 11 a.m., on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Steve Shepherd officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Livingston Cemetery near Iberia.
Facial masks and social distancing are encouraged for anyone attending the visitation and memorial service.
In honor of Jackie Fancher, memorial contributions are suggested to The Fancher Family Scholarship designated for Iberia R-V School.
