Obituary

James Lee Allee, of Eldon, passed away on his 99th birthday on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Lee House in Eldon.  He was born in Brumley on March 5, 1925, son of the late John and Wilma (Karr) Allee.  On April 11, 1970, James was united in marriage to Barbara Joanne, who preceded him in death on May 10, 2005.

James was a U.S. Veteran of World War II and was honorably discharged from active duty on May 10, 1955.  During his time in the service, he fought in the following campaigns, New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago, Southern Philippines, Luzon, and North Solomon Islands.  He was awarded a purple heart, five bronze stars, a good conduct medal and combat infantry badge.

James spent most of his early life as an over the road truck driver and later in his working career he drove locally for Milgram Foods in Overland Park, Kansas.

In 1987, James Lee and Joanne returned to Brumley after their retirement.  He was an active member of the community, serving as a long-term Board Member for Hawkins Cemetery, was a member of the Brumley Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, and loved attending Bluegrass music festivals.  James attended Greenridge Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughters, Donna (Jim) Hall of Iberia and Debbie Bolinger of Colorado; son, Troy Allee of Sikeston; stepdaughter, Barbara Katzer of Mission, Kansas; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles "Doc" (Penny) Allee of Brumley; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Ardis Patterson, and grandson, Brinnin Bolinger.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 (noon), with services immediately following at 12 (noon), on Friday, March 8, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Warren Mitchell officiating.  Interment with military honors will be held at Hawkins Cemetery near Brumley.
