Barlow
September 23, 1930 – October 21, 2022
James A. Barlow, age 92, of Iberia, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022, at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia. He was born in rural Iberia on September 23, 1930, son of the late Andrew "Andy" and Sirilda (Shelton) Barlow. On December 19, 1953, James was united in marriage to Lora Lea McCubbin, at her family home.
Jim worked at Kankakee, Illinois, for a while, joined the Air Force, and later worked at General Motors in Kansas City before returning to Iberia. He was employed at L.B. Manufacturing as a sewing machine mechanic and later worked for MODOT in Iberia, retiring after 32 years of employment. Jim was a devoted Christian, baptized as a young adult and attended the Church of Christ.
Jim's later years were spent between the farm of Lora Lea's parents home place that they purchased and his place in Iberia. Jim enjoyed working on the farm, cutting wood for winter, checking on his cattle, and working in the garden. Jim and Lora Lea enjoyed the farm life together.
In addition to his loving wife, Lora Lea Barlow, he is also survived by his sister, Linda (Terry) Curtman of Iberia; sister-in-law, Darlene (Eugene) Groff of Chillicothe, Illinois; brother-in-law, Don McCubbin of Auxvasse; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Barlow and wife Bonnie; sister, Eunice Brumley and husband Bob; brothers-in-law, Wade McCubbin, Wayne McCubbin, and Norman McCubbin; and sisters-in-law, Eula Rustemeyer, Lorene Woods, and Martha Fletcher.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 (noon), with services immediately following at 12 (noon), on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro. Brian Duncan officiating. Interment will be held in Hickory Point Cemetery.
