Obituary

James "Jim Bob" Nesselhauf, age 75, of St. Elizabeth formerly of St. Louis, ascended into heaven on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at his home.  He was born in St. Louis, on January 9, 1949, son of the late Joseph and Joyce (Cook) Nesselhauf.  On June 5, 1971, Jim was united in marriage to Olga Marie Castellano, in Key West, Florida.

Jim served in the United States Army Special Forces as a Green Beret until his honorable discharge in 1972.  He worked at National Supermarkets for 29 years.  He later founded and owned Joltran Communications, a successful family business in St. Louis.  After retirement, Jim lived out his ultimate dream of living and dying on his farm.   Jim took the utmost pleasure in his 400-acres, working tirelessly every day.  After his health declined, he slowed down a bit, but still enjoyed the peacefulness and natural beauty the farm provided him.    He loved spending time with his family and friends, who filled his life with so much joy.

He is survived by his loving wife, Olga "Dogs" Nesselhauf; two daughters, Valarie (Richard) Nunn and Tracie "Lucy"  (Scott) Davis; grandchildren, John (Amy) Nesselhauf, Joe (Julia) Nesselhauf, Kaylie (Chris) Kloeppel, Allison Davis, Abigail Davis, Analise Davis, and Avery Davis; great-grandchildren, Jack, Emma, Mila Jo, and his namesake, James, with two great-grandchildren expected anytime, Wesley and Ivy; two sisters, Janice (Dave) Gerdes and Kay (Dave) Ladenberger; his beloved dogs, Leo and Lily; and a host of family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Nesselhauf; sister, Carol Meyer; and inspirational great-granddaughter, Jade Riley Nesselhauf.  The family takes comfort in knowing Jim is having a long-awaited reunion with his departed family in Heaven.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., on Friday, September 20, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in St. Anthony, with Fr. Christopher Aubuchon officiating.  Military honors will follow the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the James Nesselhauf Memorial Fund.
