IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Arthur
Cawthon
August 19, 1959 – October 27, 2020
James Arthur Cawthon, age 61, of Iberia, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, on August 19, 1959, son of Roy Willis and Virgina (Young) Cawthon. On March 20, 1982, in Augusta, KS, James was united in marriage to Robin Beal, who survives at their home.
James enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, cooking and sitting around the bonfire. He loved riding his motorcycle, he would ride all day when he had the chance. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished the time he had with his family.
James was an OSU Alumi Grad and was employed as an industrial electrician in 1986. He was what he called a Hollywood Marine, serving at MCRD San Diego, California from 1977 to 1979. He honorably served in the United State Marine Corps and earned the rank LCPL.
He always said his greatest accomplishment was on May 15, 1983, when his daughter, Jamie, was born. She was his life, his baby girl and he was always teaching and telling stories to her and her friends. James never knew a stranger and was always helping people in need.
In addition to his loving wife, Robin Rene Cawthon, he is also survived by his daughter, Jamie Estelle Cawthon-Pyke of Iberia; son-in-law, Guy Pyke; four grandchildren; two sisters, Myrtle Audry (Cawthon) Reid of Houston, Texas and Vessie Allison Cawthon of Muskogee, Oklahoma; and numerous family and friends.
He was preceded in death by four siblings, Carl Aubrey Cawthon, Roy Willis Cawthon Jr., John Arlen Cawthon, and Donna Virginia (Cawthon) Marritt.
James last request was to take one last ride and be placed at the National Cemetery in Fort Gidson, OK. A celebration of life will not be held, but family and friends are welcome to stop by the house to visit and flowers may be sent to the family at 1583 Highway 42, Iberia, MO 65486.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Iberia Girl Scouts 71419 or Iberia FFA.
