SFC, James L. Lupardus, age 91, of Tuscumbia, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. He was born in Miller County on January 12, 1920, son of the late Haskell and Luzon (Helton) Lupardus. On October 7, 1957, in Elktron, Maryland, James married Doris Alberta Soper, who preceded him in death on August 16, 1978.
James proudly served his country in the United States Army until his discharge in 1962. He served in WWII. After retiring from the Army he worked as an Accountant. He loved his independence and his dogs.
He is survived by two nephews, one niece, and many cousins.
He was also preceded by one brother, William "Bill" Lupardus and one sister, Ruth.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., with services immediately following at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Stan Way will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Tuscumbia.
